ISLAMABAD: Test fast bowler Junaid Khan is hoping to perform well against England, saying he will prove his selection right if given a chance.
Talking to a TV channel, he said he was fit and preparing well for the series against England.
“Right now I am playing county cricket in England while representing Middlesex to regain my form.”
Junaid had signed for the English county side of Middlesex to represent them in the 2015 Royal London One-day Cup.
The Pakistan bowler played in England with Lancashire in 2014 where he took 19 wickets in 10 Natwest T20 Blast matches with best figures of 4-12 and was instrumental in his side’s advance to the final. Apart from his pivotal role in Lancashire’s success during his stint in 2014, Junaid also proved to be very popular with the Lancashire fans.
The pacer said he was dejected after being dropped from the One-day International series against Sri Lanka but vowed to make a comeback in the team after satisfying the selectors through his fitness and performance.
“I was certainly depressed but legendary bowler Wasim Akram encouraged me a lot besides giving me some tips to improve my bowling,” he added.
Junaid has so far played 52 One-day Internationals since his debut in April 2011 taking 78 wickets at an average of 25.72 with the economy rate of just above five.
